30 YEARS EXPERIENCE  

Kauri Architects is a practice which Tere Insley has set up after working as an architect for more than twenty years in some of the country's largest architectural practices.

RANGE OF EXPERIENCE

Over the past twenty five years as a registered architect Tere has worked on a wide range of projects and has participated at all stages of the design and construction process. Buildings range from educational to commercial, civic, medical and cultural buildings.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM 

Kauri Architects uses the New Zealand Institute of Architects GAP system which is a streamlined quality management system to guide and check architectural design from masterplanning through to the end of Defects Liability.

  •  Raparapa Ririki Outdoor pursuits / tourism for Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou

1920's, 320m2 homestead at the base of Mt Hikurangi restored for outdoor education and tourist accommodation.

 

  •  Hauhunga Marae: Whare nui, whare kai and offices for Ngati Rarua

  • Southern Cross Medical Centre designed & built by Warren + Mahoney.

My role: developed design, documentation through to tender. 

 

  • Te Ao Marama Recovery, Maori / Pacific Island Heads of Department /

        Ngai Tahu Research University of Canterbury.

My role: Brief development & concept design.

  • Anglican Church, Canterbury Design Guidelines.

My role: Community consultation to ascertain multicultural, bicultural, 3 Tikanga reference in design of future cathedral / churches

  • Te Wharekura o Te Rau Aroha. Ngarua designed & built by Warren + Mahoney.

My role: design of total immersion Maori school catering for year 1 to 13 to Ministry of Education standards and cultural requirements

  • Audi Showroom, Auckland designed & built by Warren + Mahoney

My role: design team Audi showroom Great North Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland

  • Novotel Hotel, Auckland International Airport designed & built by Warren + Mahoney.

My role: Tikanga Architect for the multimillion dollar hotel, a joint venture between Tainui Group Holdings, Novotel and Auckland International Airport.

 

  • Medical Centre for Raukura Hauora o Tainui

My role: Client consultation, concept design 

  • Auckland Mail Centre designed & built by Warren + Mahoney.

My role: documentation and project administration of the multimillion dollar NZ Post mail processing centre for the greater Auckland Region.

 

  • Whare Taonga, Turangawaewae designed by Warren + Mahoney.

 My role: design of museum to commemorate the life of the late Maori Queen, Te Arikinui Te Atairangikaahu proposed for Turangawaewae marae, Ngaruawahia.

 

  •  BNZ Tower, 80 Queen Street designed & built by Warren + Mahoney.

My role: Iwi consultation, Ngati Whatua, Ngai Tai developed design by Warren and Mahoney and Woods Bagot, Sydney based architects for client – Multiplex.

  • Upper Harbour Primary School, Auckland Stages 01 and 02 designed & built by Warren + Mahoney.

 My role: design, documentation and construction of a million dollar primary school on Auckland’s North Shore.
